Richmond Portrait was a documentary photography project commissioned by the Richmond Art Center for their 75th Anniversary exhibition in Fall 2006. Having lived in Richmond for eight years I spent my last year living there documenting the people and places I encountered. The project was meant to represent an incomplete and ongoing portrait of Richmond, emphasiziing the diversity and uniquemeness that can be misunderstood by outsiders.
